Levoit Air Purifier Reviews

Levoit air purifiers are gaining in popularity thanks to their effective air purification, ease of operation and, most importantly, their budget-friendliness. Levoit offers air purifiers with these great features for rooms of all types and sizes from the small desktop air purifier to the large one for the whole house.

The highlight feature for all Levoit air purifiers is the 3-stage filtration process. There is the fine preliminary filter catching large particles like pet fur, fibers and lint. There is the True HEPA filter catching smaller particles (up to 99.97% of airborne contaminants) as small as 0.3 microns and the Activated Carbon filter which absorbs pollutants, odors and smoke. The result is clean fresh air indoors.

From our tests, the Levoit LV-H135 came out as the best air purifier given its large area of coverage and high CADR value. It’s quiet, looks good and works really well.

Buyers’ Guide: What to Look for When Buying Levoit Air Purifiers

Although most Levoit air purifiers share some features, you still need to focus on some aspects to find the most suitable one for your situation:

1. Size and Coverage

The size of the air purifier determines the coverage area since a large unit will cover a larger area as well. When choosing an air purifier, therefore, consider its size and how much floor space it covers. Most air purifiers will have the coverage area indicated on them. Although an air purifier can cover twice the indicated coverage area, it’ll take longer to clean the air.

Also, consider where you’re going to use the air purifier and match that with the size. If it’s a desk or bedroom one, you don’t need that much of coverage and can go for the smaller one without a compromise on the air quality.

2. Filtration Process

Levoit’s 3-Stage Filtration system is a great feature found in all their air purifiers and it sets them apart from the rest of the market. The three filtration stages are as follows:

  • Fine preliminary filter: this stage catches large airborne particles such as pet fur, fibers, lint and others.
  • True HEPA filter: this stage captures up to 99.97% of all air particles to a size as small as 0.3 microns.
  • Activated Carbon filter: this stage of the filtration process absorbs odors, smoke and other pollutants.

All the air purifiers we reviewed from Levoit have the 3-Stage purification process as a common feature.

3. CADR Value

CADR refers to the Clean Air Delivery Rate which is the cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air with particles that has been cleaned by an air filter. Put simply, CADR is the amount of air particles removed from the air passing through an air purifier.

For this one, the higher the rating, the better the purifier will be. If you have allergies to common pollutants like pollen, smoke and pet dander, you should go for an air purifier with a high CADR value.

4. Noise Level

Already, Levoit air purifiers are among the quietest on the market with none going beyond 57 decibels. However, you need to choose the noise level as per the purpose of the air purifier. If you’re getting one for the living room, you can safely choose one with a higher noise level as it’ll not wake you up at night given the distance to the bedroom. However, if you’re buying an air purifier for the bedroom or desk at work, you need a quiet one to avoid distracting yourself or waking yourself up.

5. Other features

Besides the aspects above, you should also consider the following when choosing a Levoit air purifier:

  • Auto Mode: the auto mode in some Levoit air purifiers helps get the freshest air with the least input from the user. This is because it automatically adjusts the speed of the fans as per the quality of the air. In very dirty air, the air purifier will crank up the fans increasing the rate of purification and vice versa. This is convenient and also saves on the power usage.
  • Wheels for Movement: on bigger Levoit units, you will find wheels which make it easier to move them around.
  • Indicator for Filter Replacement: the filter replacement feature is quite important since it eliminates guessing from the filter replacement process. When the filter needs replacing, the air filter will notify you saving lots of time. On average, a filter will last between 6 and 8 months before needing replacement.

A lot of features are shared between Levoit air purifiers with the ease of use, maintenance and warranties all being the same. On each unit for example, you’ll get a warranty for 2 years.
